So back to the grind stone...

So this semester has started back in full swing. I have another round of Fibers class and there is hope for this semester. It helps to have a teacher who inspires you and inform the class as well. Also on the horizon, fashion class, art criticism, and a super interesting class, Lithography. Lets also not forget, Painting, oil paints. I have high hopes for them.
Done lots of knitting and crochet lately. I picked up some sinful Yak fiber to spin at work. We have Yak fiber in natural brown and cream. Ugh, you need a cigarette after playing with it.

A shot of my 1963 LeClerc Medico-S 4 shaft table loom. I can never have enough toys!

So here we go again..

So I have taken a technology course this summer in my career at ODU. I have learned some things about how to use this blog so as par for the course, we shall attempt to continue the foray.

There are many things on the horizons for my fiber life. I will be teaching at Kitsch in Ghent. I also teach at my new yarn store The Yarn Club. I am starting a big series of fiber art classes here starting with how to dye your own yarn. Then on to wet felt and nuno felt.

So many things to do as well as go to school. As usual my plate is always full.

Next main attraction

for me is building my new website for school. My Site. Check it out. It is mainly for showing my art but I managed to twist it into fiber art as always. I will use it to list my current class lists and what I am currently working on. Be sure to check it off and leave me a comment on the guest book page.
This semester is going at warp speed. I am glad for some of it and not looking forward still to a test for computer skills I must pass. I know how to use all important programs so who cares if I can't make a spreadsheet?? Last time I made one was 20 years ago almost. So, obviously it isn't that important...really..

So I might be running like a chicken without a head...

Because I am teaching several classes this weekend at Cornerstone Alpacas. I heard one of my classes is very popular so that's refreshing to hear. I feel like I have been under a world of pressure anyway due to school rounding up to a finish. The work just starts coming faster at the end. I also have to get up to speed on Microsoft Office and pass the exam for school or guess who won't be graduating on time...this girl. This degree will be my degree in Studio Art with a Craft emphasis. Also on the plate recently we opened the new Hot Glass shop at the Chrysler Museum. That was best described as a symphony of chaos and destruction. So, the next few weeks are gonna be ridiculous. Oh and did I mention the 18 credit hours I take in school. Of those, all but 3 credits (1 class) is production art where I must produce art. Ha ha ha. So, if you see me running by with my hair on fire, you'll know why...

a King size just for me

So here I sit in my nice hotel room in Winchester, VA waiting to attend the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Fest. I got this big ol giant king size bed all to my self with fluffy feather pillows. I even have a lap desk waiting for me on my big princess bed so I can type this. What an end to a perfect day. Lunch with my great friend at Bardo today. Tempura Lobster..amazing! Great Riesling from Germany and fried dumplings with cheesecake in them and raspberry glaze...yummmmm! This will be my first time to attend this fiber fest. I now some of the vendors who will attend so I know there is going to be some good stuff to be had here.Excited about an upcoming possible opportunity  I discovered today. Many things on the horizon. And did I mention I go to school 48 hours a week? Oi. So, I am off to have my steeping tea of apple and cinnamon waiting for me. It smells like fall in a cup! Photos to follow as I am shooting 2 portfolios at the moment too.

And so we try and try again..

So I am sitting here perusing the website of ODU and their art department. They turned me down before when I applied and this time I will have an Associate degree in Studio Arts. And did I mention it was gonna be with honors? Yeah that's right my former high school from hell teachers. Honors. I hope to escape a 4th semester still on the Dean's and President's list to gradute with a hell of a GPA. But I decided to put crappy feelings of rejection aside and apply again. It said they would let you in with another Virginia degree..

On the fore front, a fiber festival in Windsor, VA coming up that I will teach at. Cornerstone Alpacas is having a nice little shindig. Cornerstone Alpacas Novemember 5. So to all few of you who read this, please support the nice folks there and come out for the festival.

My next fiber adventure will be the Shenendoah Valley Fiber Festival. I hope to take lots of photos there as well. Check back in 2 weeks for those pictures.

Batten Down the Hatches..

Well, my fellow East Coast crafty peoples, batten down the hatches and settle in for a long ugly weekend. I have declared a state of emergency in crafting. Please be advised all knitters, crocheters, spinners and crafty people should be aware that a Knit-a-thon, crochet-a-thon, etc. shall commence ASAP. This is NOT a test. This message has been brought to you by Hurricane Irene. That is all.
